Planning Our 5th Anniversary Party

Last week we welcomed clients, colleagues, and friends to our offices to celebrate our 5th birthday. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet our team and take a look behind the scenes at Formstack. When we thought up the idea of the party, not only did we want to incorporate our web forms, but also our social media channels.

Here are a few tips and tricks that we used, which may be helpful the next time your business plans a party:

1.) Event Registration Form

With an expected attendance near 100 people, we wanted an easy way to not only get guests registered, but to collect their online data. When invitees visited the event page, they were required to enter their name, company, email, and Twitter handle. Once they clicked “Count Me In,” they were redirected to a special donation page with CURE International. It gave our guests the opportunity to make a $5 donation to help a child in need. You still have the opportunity to donate if you click on the “CURE International” link above.

2.) Contest Form

When guests arrived at the party, they were not only welcomed with a smile, but an opportunity to win a $25 Amazon gift card. Once again, we used our online form builder to create a contest form where guests got the opportunity to win a prize. We took all of the entries and announced the winner at random after the party via Twitter.

3.) Foursquare Check-In

Foursquare has become a popular way for your friends to find out where you are and also discover new places in your city. If our guests had the application, we gave them the option to check in at our special party location versus our office. Once they checked in, they could publish it to their Twitter stream and let their followers know that there’s a fun event going on in Indianapolis.

4.) Twitter Appreciation Wall

As our guests were dining on the delicious Qdoba food, they saw Formstack appreciation tweets being projected on the wall in our party room. We are thankful for all our customers and wanted to find a way to showcase their appreciation in 140 characters or less.

5.) Party Photos

It’s not a party until photos are thrown in the mix! We took photos, both before and during, to give our fans a chance to see the event in case they couldn’t attend. Posting pictures the day after the party also gave the guests an opportunity to reminisce on a fun event (at least we hope so!). You can check out the full 5th anniversary party photos on our Facebook page.

Thanks to everyone who made our 5th birthday such a special event and cheers to many more years to come with the Formstack team. To show our appreciation, guests left the party with a Formstack t-shirt and full belly of Mexican food.
