Networking and Bird People: Our STORY 2012 Experience

This week, Formstack-ers have been representing the team at Story 2012, a conference in Chicago that provides “fuel for the creative class.” As the official form provider for the event, Formstack was able to send Breena, Kelly, and Eva to share the wonders of form building with representatives from nonprofits, church organizations and creatives from across the country. In addition, they were able to attend some of the sessions, which featured bands and inspirational speakers such as Bob Goff, Erwin McManus and Anne Lamott. While at the Formstack booth, they encouraged attendees to share their experiences at STORY 2012 using our iPad app, and their responses were displayed at formstack.com/story. Check out the takeaways from our team members below, and be sure to check out Formstack’s Story page – even a bird-lady shared her story (hint – there’s a lot of clucking).

Breena:
“I don’t even know where to begin. STORY has been such a great adventure for Kelly, Eva and I. Often times, we don’t get the chance to talk to actual, or potential, customers face-to-face about our form builder. Yesterday, we were up on our feet, moving around, and chatting with everyone we met about how awesome Formstack is. It’s interesting and exciting and just absolutely motivating to constantly be asked questions about how it works, how it can help small businesses, and why people should use it. I loved how excited people got when we would share those things with them, and I think it was just a great way for us three to realize how powerful the builder really is and how insanely passionate we are about online forms. Like, seriously. We’re crazy about it.”

Kelly:
“The first day of STORY was fantastic! It is great to talk to current Formstack users and hear how happy they are with our form builder. It is even more rewarding to talk to people about how they could use Formstack to streamline their current systems and make their lives a little easier.

See? Even bird-people use Formstack.

Hearing the speakers talk about their successes, failures, and experiences is rewarding for me as a recruiter and company Culturist. As Formstack’s Culturist I want to create an environment that allows everyone to be creative and productive. If that means we paint walls with chalkboard paint and write ideas all over them or change the office layout then we will try it. I am excited to find creative ways to tell others about Formstack and our culture. I have learned a lot about how to explore and capture creativity and I can’t wait to bring that back to my work at Formstack and in my life.”

Eva:
“‘Stop living life like it’s a business trip!” – Bob Goff

“Although, as sponsors of STORYChicago, we Formstack-ers are technically here on business, I don’t think I could go on a cooler business trip. At the Formstack booth, we’ve been able to expose the benefits of our product to several pumped members of nonprofits and small businesses across the country. Attendees told us their STORY stories, and I was able to learn more about the backgrounds of our new connections. And even though we’ve been getting our network on at the Formstack booth, we’ve attended a few sessions as well. I thoroughly enjoyed Bob Goff’s opening session on Thursday morning and his message about pushing the envelopes of our creativity. I even got a signed copy of his book, ‘Love Does’ – as well as a hug from Bob himself! So not only am I walking away with inspiring messages about faith and creativity, but I have weekend reading as well. :-)
